IRL V2 G80 G82 G83 Catback Valved Exhaust

I had done a lot of research on what I wanted from an exhaust. It needed to have the perfect balance of sound, performance and style. I lucked out on You-tube and found IRL. I listened to the exhaust notes of 20 different systems, and I kept coming back to the IRL system V2 non-resonated. I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Magic (From IRL) called and verified my order and had it shipped to me quickly!

I had the exhaust installed that same day, and I have to explain that it not only met my expectations but far exceeded them.

Most of the G80 exhausts I have heard, sound like someone threw a handful of washers and screws into a Vitamix on high; not the V2... Oh no no no.. IRL broke the sound code and made it sound like a group of gorillas pounding their chests for dominance. The performance shop that installed the exhaust for me was deeply impressed and couldn't believe it. They had their videographer in the shop filming.

It is a deep, V8 rumble on cold start. It smooths out to a low baritone when it warms up. With the Valves open on Sport plus, the burble sounds like boulders falling down a canyon and just echoes. My neighbors hate it which tells me that I, 100%, have invested in the right exhaust.

The materials are spot on. I am a welding engineer by trade, and I inspected the welds on the system and found them to be of high quality with few discontinuities to be found. The bracing and spacing are perfection and the matte coating on the exhaust adds that bit of flair that is perfect. I opted for the black tips to match the murdered-out function of the M3, and they were/are perfect.

I will be ordering the downpipes from IRL soon to complete the marriage of components. I have not one complaint about this system and when the next M3 comes out, I will be looking to IRL to outfit that with a new exhaust.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time on overpriced systems and trying to chase the perfect sound. You have found it here. Get yourself an IRL Exhaust system and unleash the beast.

Genuinely the best sounding g8x system out there. Saw them recommended on FB, did some research, and finally pulled the trigger. If you’re looking for that deep tone (no rasp) and some aggressive upshifts, this is the one. Perfect burbling too. Highly recommend.

I initially found IRL via NW Carbonhaus. After some back and forth communication with them I reached out to IRL directly bc I was having drone issues with my AA system (Equal Length mid, V2 axleback). Magic was great, answered all my questions in depth and gave me a lot of insight.

I was honestly to a point where I didn’t even enjoy driving my G80 but once I got this system installed it completely changed the game for me. No after market system is perfect but the IRL catback made a night and day difference for me and I throughly enjoy driving the car again. The drone is very minimal and it makes the car sound like a beast in M1/M2. All things considered (price, quality, customer service), IRL is a no brainer in my book.
